# update_team

> Update team settings with Posted MCP.

Update the team name.

## Workflow

```mermaid theme={"system"}
flowchart LR
  step0["Confirm the team name"] --> step1
  step1["Update team settings"] --> step2
  step2["Read the saved name"]
```

## Access and behavior

Administrator consent and a current administrator team role are required. Tools are listed and callable only when the current grant and role permit them.

Requires Administrator access. This changes the team name, not membership or provider ownership.

## Arguments

| Argument | Required | Type or meaning |
| - | - | - |
| `name` | Yes | The name to save for the target record. |

<Accordion title="Complete input schema">
  ```json theme={"system"}
  {
    "type": "object",
    "properties": {
      "name": {
        "type": "string",
        "minLength": 1,
        "maxLength": 120
      }
    },
    "required": ["name"],
    "additionalProperties": false
  }
  ```
</Accordion>

## Example call

The client initializes the MCP connection before sending this JSON-RPC call. Example records are fictional.

```json theme={"system"}
{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "update_team",
    "arguments": {
      "name": "Studio team"
    }
  }
}
```

## Example result

Posted returns this object in `structuredContent` and a JSON text content block. A tool failure sets `isError`; never treat an error as a completed mutation.

```json theme={"system"}
{
  "workspace": {
    "id": "55555555-5555-4555-8555-555555555555",
    "name": "Studio team",
    "createdAt": "2027-01-18T09:30:00.000Z"
  }
}
```
